: it seems that a Danish court will rule on a local case about deep linking in a week or so.
I had no idea
that Kinder Eggs were contraband in the US! It’s kind of funny that such inoffensive little toys are illegal. I wonder, does that make my Kinder egg habit cool and “alternative”? Heh. [via boingboing]
Let’s WARCHALK!
from BlackBeltJones. Warchalking is a proposed graffiti language for pointing to wireless hubs in the city. It’s an extension of wardialing (the old hacker practice of phoning numbers to see what’s on the other end) and wardriving – driving around to find wireless (802.11b) access points – merged with the old hobo symbols that were used to let others know of dangers or good things in an area.
Since we have very little
competition in offline bookstores in Canada, it’s fitting that Amazon is bringing competition online with Amazon.ca. It looks like it’s still in a rollout phase, but it’s one way to give yourself an alternative to Chapters/Indigo that doesn’t break the bank (like paying for books in US$ would do).
There’s some very sad news
today for anyone who enjoys literature in the English language. Timothy Findley has died at age 71, of complications following a broken hip. Time to dip back into my library and re-read some of his best novels – Famous Last Words, Telling of Lies, or my favourite, Not Wanted on the Voyage.
