Blogger Maciej Ceglowski writes about his first couple of weeks in Montreal. I have never met Maciej, but I have been in the apartment he’s subletting – I know just from his description in the post. Montreal’s a small town like that some times.
Over at Montreal City Weblog
Kate has posted a nice, succinct summary about the demerger referenda that were held yesterday. My only comment was that at work, where many are West Islanders, few understood that we residents of Montreal-proper had no vote, we had nothing to vote for. Not even whether we wanted to demerger them.
Anyone know
of a good source for used Macs in Montreal? I’m thinking an iMac (original design or the newer one) might be perfect for a friend with modest needs and a modest budget.
The Ars Electronica 2004 Awards
have been announced, and in the Computer Animation/Visual Effects category the winner is Chris Landreth for a film called “Ryan.” The subject of the film is Ryan Larkin, a groundbreaking, Oscar-nominated animator in the golden age of the National Film board who since has fallen on hard times. Larkin hangs out in my neighbourhood on St-Laurent Blvd, and spends time every evening at my local watering hole, the Copa. Ironically (or not) the film is a co-production of the NFB, where Larkin used to work.
Attention YULBloggers!
Got this email today:
Yulblog get together Saturday the 24th
at Boudoir, 4h00pm. Beer or coffee before dinner in other words. It was discussed here (especially notice that this meeting does in no way replace the normal one of May 5th).
Rencontre Yulblog Samedi le 24 au Boudoir à 16h00. P’tite bière / café d’avant souper
finalement. Nous en avions discuté ici (remarquez particulièrement que c’est une
rencontre boni et ne remplace d’aucune façon la rencontre habituelle du
5 May).
