It’s only January 18th,
but Jay Rosen’s piece in his blog, Pressthink, is likely the most important writing about weblogs OR journalism that we’ll get all year: Bloggers vs. Journalists is Over. Many chewy bits to read and re-read in there. Bottom line – journalism is a practice.
The Globe and Mail
is running a good story by Guy Dixon: How copyright could be killing culture. It’s focused on the documentary film “Eyes on the Prize”, which featured a great deal of archival footage that they only purchased 5-year rights to include. For those who follow “copyfight” related stories there’s likely nothing new in the article, but for people with more of a passing interest, the article is a good summary of the issues at play, and at stake.
