been writing, last night Ed, David, Aaron and I went out for dinner and drinks with very special guest Jish, visiting from Pacifica CA for the holidays. As usual with that gang it was a fun night – except that I forgot my stinking camera, so there is no mirror photo this time.
Fair warning!
There’s an event this week. Dinner and drinks at Nantha’s Kitchen, a fabulous Malaysian/Indonesian place on Duluth right near St-Laurent. The regular crew of Montrealers who keep weblogs is coming out, plus one of our favourite former Montrealers, the irrepressible Jish. Are you coming? Everyone’s welcome.
Shiny and new:
Jish has redesigned weblog shmeblog.
Back again.
Philadelphia was actually quite nice, although I didn’t get downtown. But I saw our office there for the first time, which is someplace called… ummm… “Manayunk”.
- The new Megnut looks great – very subdued but with nice touches like the little line connecting the menu item to the main content area. [I’m on a mac, btw]
- It’s good to read that Heather is slowly on the mend.
- David seems to be a little unsure of things.
- Jish is still away.
Jish’s weblog shmeblog
Jish’s weblog shmeblog takes up the question of what this [weblogging] is about. Being noticed? Refusing anonymity? It also goes to the whole question of the web/real divide. That divide doesn’t exist anymore for me. It did, but I’ve come out the other side. My online life – Café Utne, work, writing, whatever – is completely intermingled with my real life. The first thing that came to mind for me when I read Zeldman‘s piece today was that I worked with a guy on CTHEORY for four years and we never spoke. Or maybe we did once.
