to the Palm Beach County ballot through Meg Hourihan‘s site, Megnut. It is pretty obvious that it’s extremely confusing, which is just crazy. Not much can be done about it now, but I was a little surprised that such an issue is there in the first place. Shouldn’t all ballots (at least in a state) be identical in design and layout?
There’s a new
editorial co-production between Feed and Wired News called the FEED Drugs Issue. A couple interesting things – first, it’s pretty cool to see two sites cooperating like this. Second, the design is interesting in that they lay out the whole section in advance, and will evidently make the article titles on the left hot as the week goes on.
There’s a new website
that will document the creation of a new book: Design for Community by Derek M. Powazek. He’s making use of community tools in the site, which makes sense. The site itself could become a great example to use in the book later on. Pretty cool. Recombinant.
Check out Lines + Splines (again)
Check out Lines + Splines (again): “…because I’m now beginning a spate of all-Dutch posts; for the next few days (or so), all my posts will be related to Dutch type/design. I’ve been meaning to do this for a while and now is as good a time as any.”
Type is great, but even better are the textual diversions, themes and sub-themes, clauses and sub-clauses, he (he?) uses to get to the point. Seemingly out of left field will come this extra something – a little anecdote or digression – that completes the picture. Quite seriously, I don’t know that any text has every mirrored the way my own brain works quite as closely as Lines + Splines.
And now it’s 2:15
and it’s all weird. I wasn’t at home to change my clocks, so they’re all an hour slow, and anyhow I’m 3 hrs behind due to this wonderful Canadian invention, the Time Zone. I did find it interesting to note down which websites I visited first – this being my first look at any weblogs in a few days. I looked at mostly serious issues-oriented sites first – PeterMe, Zeldman (to whom I’ve neglected to send my condolences), CamWorld, and Evhead. Next were Montrealers – Ed’s nicely redesigned Calebos.org, Aaron’s site, and David’s. Last were honourary/former Montrealer Heather’s Harrumph and Derek Powazek‘s site. And now to bed. Because I have a very big meeting tomorrow with a man who might win a Nobel Prize for medicine soon – a huge figure we’re doing some work with. Nope, not intimidated at all.
