A pithy proposal
from Cory Doctorow in Boing Boing: Let’s put Verisign to death. I’m on board for sure, at least to the extent that I have an influence anywhere (which is not that great).
Jim Travers
: Hopelessness fed hijackers’ anger. “The war on terrorism will begin, as it now must, with a measured and terrible response to the events of this week. It will only end when hope convinces those young men that there is an alternative to death.”
I liked the new story
over at O’Reilly, Death of a Dot-Com by Shelley Powers, until the very end. She wrote in her epilogue: “So why did Skyfish.com fail? Why did any of the dot-coms fail? We stopped believing in the phenomenon, and once you stop believing, there’s no going back.” Which, you know, just doesn’t make sense.
Fascinating news
on the capital punishment beat today. The Supreme Court of Canada has barred the extradition of 2 men to the to US until assurances are received that they will not face the death penalty, which has been banned here for years. In the past Canada has not stood in the way of such extraditions.
