. This weblog – albeit in slightly different form – is two years old today! But the weblog format wasn’t my first incarnation on the web – this month also marks 6 years and 3 months since my first personal site went up. That original (ugly) site is available via the Wayback Machine.
I like Radio Userland
as a product, and I very much respect what Dave Winer is doing by putting the focus where it belongs in the web world at the moment. That said, his critique of camworld today is completely beside the point. He’s right – permalinks, for instance, are de rigueur for a weblog today. By the same token, so is flexibility of archiving methods, something that is absent (unless you roll your own solution) in Radio. Dave’s critique comes off as a cheap shot, and will doubtless only serve to alienate a guy (Cam) who, in my experience, is nothing but generous and sincere in asking important questions and contributing an excellent weblog to the community.
After my class tonight
I just plain forgot about the YULbloggers meeting and drinkfest tonight. Just as well, as I’m off for a long weekend in NY tomorrow, so I had to get ready.
I’m going to NY to visit with my brother and his wife, who live there, and my mother and stepfather, who are in the city for the winter. Back on Monday – I’m probably not going to post until then.
Speaking of redesigns
, check out the tasty orange goodness over at thenewforum.ca. A very clean design that works well with editorial photos and shows off the links very well.
The biggest awards of the year
is accepting nominations: yes, it’s the Anti-Bloggies! Vote well, vote often.
