on Information Authority. “I believe the core question that any independent media organization has to answer with regard to the web is the value of being an information authority versus the value of revenue from a paid-content model. Is there a point – and if so what and where is that point – at which the value of being an information authority is greater than the revenue derived from the paid-content model?”
The Soul of the Web.
There’s a new project called Soul of the Web that has as its aim to shine a light on personal expressions on the WWW. As the group puts it on the site, “Nestled into the corners and other hidden places, the web holds her treasures. Soul of the Web celebrates and introduces all of us to these sites.” It turns out this very site is among their links, which is quite an honour, because the other sites they link to include many favourites of mine.
I should probably keep it a secret,
but nevertheless, check out RE_INVIGORATE, a new stats service that features a great interface and a really nice real-time traffic monitor. As Tom Coates suggests it’s doubtful that it can scale, but for now it seems great. I just hope we don’t learn it’s some skunkworks project on behalf of a company that means ill will to all we keepers of personal websites and such.
