Searching:
Does anyone know of a company that provides decent hosted search services? I have been using Atomz for some time and it works pretty well, but now that I keep posts on their own pages, I hit their page limits pretty quickly (I have over 2000 pages here at the moment). I guess I could use the baked-in search within MT as well – if you’ve had any experience with that I would appreciate any advice as well.
Done!
So I’m pretty much done with the redesign here, which you may notice also included several other changes. I have gotten rid of the popup windows for commenting, and in their place, each post is on its own full-chrome page with comments and trackbacks, if there are any, integrated on that page. I have also finally made it possible to browse by category and changed the weekly archives that I’ve always had to monthly archives. Unfortunately, old archives are now broken though I may fix them (using .mtaccess redirects) if I find the time. As well, this whole thing is now running on Movable Type 3.01D.
Six Apart grows.
There have been a lot of developments at Six Apart recently. Most notable are the hiring of Barak Berkowitz as CEO (chronicled very effectively by outgoing CEO Mena Trott in Mena’s Corner) and Andrew Anker. It is very encouraging to see a company do what it really needs to do in order to succeed. And communicating so eloquently about it.
This is a test
of my modified mikel.org design. Similar, but simpler, with lots more white space. Also, I think it has a better visual identity overall, particularly using the m-in-a-circle that I have used in different ways for 10 years now in personal websites.
