about an interesting new initiative called the Government 2.0 Think Tank, or G2TT. It’s a group that’s just being formed to look at how to bring more forward-thinking Internet communications methods to Government in Canada. Definitely something to watch closely. Since last year
when we learned that Leonard Cohen had been fleeced by some people who have worked for him for a long time, he has slowly but surely started to raise his profile once again. Knowing the circumstances, I haven’t heard anyone begrudge Cohen this sortie to make money, which is refreshing. Claire Crighton in Maisonneuve magazine makes a very good point in her article about Cohen, “Canadian Idol,” when she suggests that he should really be considered as a writer and poet more than as a songwriter or singer.
I’ve been so busy
I’ve scarcely had the time to read blogs let alone keep this one up-to-date – but things are going to be pretty stable for the next few weeks, so I should be able to keep things rolling here… starting today.
A great new service
has just launched for wine lovers called Cork’d. I feel a little bit like they’ve read my mind, because I have been thinking about what it would take to build something like it for a few months now, and even wrote up some stuff about the idea to start getting such a site together. Clearly it was an idea whose time was due, though, since Dan Benjamin and Dan Cederholm got to it first – and they’ve done a wonderful job. The most recent example
of a well-oiled (and certainly well-funded) astroturf campaign: Hands Off the Internet
and it’s subsidiary site, dontregulate.org. Nothing like fake grassroots advocacy to get the creative juices flowing!
