Jim Cashel’s Online Community Report for years now – since issue 1 – by email, but I hadn’t been by the site in a while. What was once just an afterthought (or so it seemed) has become quite an impressive site that has expanded as the concept of Virtual Community has expanded as well. It now covers social networks and many of the other new kinds of virtual community. Worth a look.

The huge snowstorm
that has blanketed Montreal since yesterday has made me really happy to have bought snow tires this year after two winters on all-season radials! It was really suprising to wake up this morning and realize that yesterday’s 5 or 10 cm had grown overnight in a big way, and that brushing off the car had been replaced by shoveling out the car.
Interesting news from Ottawa
Prime Minister Paul Martin has just been sworn in and has unveiled his new cabinet. It’s a pretty standard list of Liberal Party “talent” but there’s one post that is quite surprising: Irwin Cotler, noted human rights lawyer and activist, has been named Justice Minister. If Martin really is planning a rightward detour, that’s a very odd person to name to a senior cabinet post.
I haven’t really been following
the SCO lawsuit against IBM too much, but this story about SCO’s Mind-Bogglingly Bad Faith in Dan Gillmor’s Journal caught my eye.
