is running an editorial on yesterday’s ruling by the Supreme Court in the US on material that looks like, but is not, child pornography: Free Speech in Cyberspace. “These are critical times for establishing the scope of our freedoms on the Internet.” For better or worse, by default the US Court will be establishing those freedoms for many of us, not just Americans.

linked and commented on the latest update to the Davey Hilton case today: Davey’s not going nowheres. For those who haven’t heard of this story, it’s about a lost appeal of the sentence that former world champion boxer Davey Hilton received following his conviction on mulitiple counts of sexual assault on two sisters, beginning when they were 12. MJ’s right: when the whole truth of this badly kept secret comes out it’s going to look like he got off very lightly. I mean, if it doesn’t seem so already, knowing just the above.

aka Dan Perkins has written the sanest, most reasonable opinion on Israel/Palestine I have read. There’s so much extremism around it seems as if all moderate opinion has been drowned out. Even worse, many people with extreme opinions are positioning themselves as moderates all the while suggesting that theirs is the only valid opinion.
