There’s some very sad news
today for anyone who enjoys literature in the English language. Timothy Findley has died at age 71, of complications following a broken hip. Time to dip back into my library and re-read some of his best novels – Famous Last Words, Telling of Lies, or my favourite, Not Wanted on the Voyage.

Russell Mills, the longtime publisher of the Ottawa Citizen, has been sacked, seemingly just the latest in a string of such firings by the Aspers. People are accusing Chretien of encouraging it too, and although I know the PM is a cutthroat actor in Canadian politics, I really doubt this has anything to do with him.
John Robb
