a look at Jen Bolton‘s Blogging StorTroopers (& Friends) page (which is hilarious, though I wish she used size tags in her img refs) and I noticed that Heather‘s wearing flip flops. In other news, crazy uncle joe‘s guy looks just as I expected.

Plastic launches
Plastic launches and Steven Johnson writes eloquently about it. I’ve signed up, and though I’ve never really warmed the slash structure (I get it, it’s never done much for me is all) I think it might be interesting in this context. I particularly like that Plastic is going to aggregate the contributions of partner sites. It’s like there was an original idea (basic linear content aggregated on a site) that was then turned inside out (resulting in the crossover of syndication feeds and weblogs, among other things). Then Plastic is turning it inside out again – but what comes out isn’t the original, it’s a new mutation. Mutation is good.
Neale Talbot is known
to many folks who make weblogs as the guy behind wrongwaygoback. Well now he’s weighed in with a full-on magazine: fantastical. It’s a good read and looks great as well.
Zeldman has found
Zeldman has found a site for something called the Health and Racquet Club Group. When you go to the site, however, all you get is a page that says “You have been directed to this page because of the use of an old browser…” and suggests that you use a browser that supports web standards. People have been trying to get the real site to load using any number of browsers – it won’t load the real thing under my IE5/Mac – but everyone gets the same message. Which suggests to me that it might be a mild hoax, a bit of a media hack – but if it is, it’s pretty oblique.
OK OK
I made one too. I customized it a bit to reflect my normal wardrobe: black jeans, a sweater, docs, and a black belt with a silver buckle. Actually, I don’t have much else.
