that Dan Gallagher died yesterday. I don’t have such personal memories of him and his work, but I remember that particular heyday of Canadian music well (the late 80s-early 90s, back when John “JD” Roberts from CBS was a VJ) and he was a real standup guy for friends of mine in bands (as I recall).

Interesting news from
Concordia University here in Montreal. The next Summit of the Americas is coming up in April and will be held in Quebec City. Concordia’s Senate has approved a plan to allow students who wish to attend protests in Quebec to defer their final examinations. The quote I heard on the radio said something like, “civic activism and protests are a legitimate part of the university experience.”
Bad news
from Christopher Hamilton about Blogvoices: he has to shut it down.
Another day, another website ripoff
. As noted at urban75.com, their design has been ripped off by Narconon. Pathetic.
Meg Hourihan has
posted a great piece on reproductive choice on the 28th anniversary of Roe v Wade (I had no idea). Lots of interesting links, and excellent words tying it all together.
In a related matter, you know how people often say, “oh it’s a hard issue, one about which reasonable people may disagree.” As I have gotten older, I’ve quit buying that line, conceding that in order to make nice-nice. I’ve a much harder line than I did. It’s not reasonable, in my opinion, to be anti-choice. Period.
